Memphis Grizzlies forward Dillon Brooks was ejected from Game 2 of the second-round series against the Golden State on Tuesday night after a flagrant foul 2 over Warriors’ Gary Payton II.

The NBA announced the suspension of the 26-year-old for Game 3 of the Grizzlies-Warriors Western Conference semifinals on Thursday. Brooks will have to sit out Saturday’s game with the Grizzlies making their way to Chase Center in San Francisco with a tied series.

“It’s disappointing. It’s an unfortunate circumstance. Obviously, we’re going to honor the league’s decision, but you know it’s a tough play,” Grizzlies coach Taylor Jenkins said Thursday. “We obviously wish Gary Payton a speedy and healthy recovery. You don’t want to see anybody get hurt. It’s very unfortunate what happened there.”

Brooks suspended; not to receive pay

The Memphis swingman will not receive pay during his one-game suspension, but will be able to return for Game 4 as soon as Monday night.

Brooks has averaged 13.4 points, 2.1 assists and 2.1 rebounds per game over eight games, and scored 20 or more points on three different times in the Grizzlies’ first-round series against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
