Update:

With the new NBA season just around the corner, those last minute tweaks are being put in place to ensure fans can get the best viewing experiences for the season ahead amid new broadcast deals that commence with the 2025/26 campaign.

There will be several changes to the live streaming of NBA games for the 25/26 season due to the new media rights deals with NBCUniversal (Peacock), Amazon Prime Video, and ESPN, and the NBA taking over full operational control of the NBA TV and NBA App platforms.

Changes to the NBA App and NBA TV:

The NBA has resumed full operational control of the NBA App and NBA TV after the end of its previous partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery/TNT Sports and the league has announced a new multi-platform streaming offering through the NBA App, with a reimagined NBA TV that will serve as a continuous global hub for basketball content, including:

Live Games: NBA TV will air a package of live, nonexclusive NBA games (around 60 games). These games are accessible on the NBA App streaming platform with an NBA TV subscription.

New Flagship Program: “The Association,” a new weeknight primetime program, will launch on both NBA TV and the NBA App, providing news, analysis, and highlights.

More Live Basketball Content: The App will feature more live games from the WNBA, NBA G League, Basketball Africa League (BAL), and international leagues like the NBL (Australia) and LNB (France).

Exclusive Content: Includes behind-the-scenes content, original programming, and a collection of NBA podcasts.

NBA League Pass Changes:

Operation Control Shifts: The NBA has also taken over the operations of NBA League Pass, its out-of-market game package and while it remains the home for out-of-market games, the traditional blackout rules for local and nationally televised games still apply.

NBA League Pass is now also available for purchase through Amazon Prime Video Channels as part of their new partnership.

25-26 season streaming landscape

National TV games are now spread across ABC, ESPN, NBC, Amazon Prime Video, and Peacock, meaning fans need to juggle multiple services for the full slate of nationally-televised matchups.

Peacock/NBC: Will stream exclusive national Monday night games and will offer features like Peacock ScoreCard (interactive fantasy/bingo game) and Peacock Performance View (real-time, on-screen stats/odds).

Amazon Prime Video: Is the exclusive home for a large slate of games, including Thursday/Friday night doubleheaders and the entire NBA Cup Knockout stage. They will offer innovative features like Multiview and Rapid Recap.
