On Tuesday, it was reported that the Brooklyn Nets are seeking the biggest trade return in the history of the NBA, as they look to offload wantaway star Kevin Durant. Now, further details of the Nets’ demands have been disclosed.

Wolves say not to Nets’ Durant trade proposal

According to Yahoo! Sports journalist Vincent Goodwill, Brooklyn approached the Minnesota Timberwolves with a view to negotiating a trade for Durant. The problem? Just how much the Nets want in exchange for the 33-year-old.

Speaking on the Posted Up podcast, Goodwill revealed that the Nets asked the Timberwolves for Karl-Anthony Towns, Anthony Edwards and four Draft picks in return for Durant.

The Nets’ demands proved excessive for the Wolves, who turned down the deal. It’s worth noting that both Edwards and Towns were No. 1 Draft picks, in 2020 and 2015, respectively.

Per Bleacher Report, another factor in Minnesota’s rejection of the Nets’ proposed trade is that they intend to build a team around Towns and Edwards. Last week, the franchise acquired three-time Defensive Player of the Year Rudy Gobert in a trade with the Utah Jazz.

Durant bidding war “isn’t really hot right now”

Meanwhile, ESPN’s Brian Windhorst has reported that the “bidding war [for Durant] isn’t really hot right now”. The insider added that the interested teams have submitted their offers and don’t plan on going after the forward more aggressively.
