With so much star power on the floor it would be the role players that made the difference early on. Neither Kevin Durant, nor Kyrie Irving, nor the Celtics’ Jayson Tatum had a big Game 2 as the spotlight was shared by the supporting cast.
The Nets got off to an early led that they kept well into the fourth quarter thanks to Bruce Brown and his personal 9-0 to start the game. Much like the in Game 1, the first quarter was marred by fouls and stoppages which made it hard for any team to get into a groove, but Grant Williams had eight straight points to end the opening 12 minutes but the Celtics still trailed by nine.
In the second quarter it was Goran Dragic’s turn to take center stage, and the Slovenian scored 13 of his 16 first half points in the quarter to stretch the Nets lead to as much as 17.

Four minutes into the fourth quarter, Payton Pritchard gave the Celtics their first lead of the ball game with a step back jumper from just inside the three point line. Once the Celtics got the lead they didn’t let it go. Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum took over to sheppard Boston to a Game 2 win. Brown ended with 22 points and Tatum had 19 points and 10 assists on a night where seven of the eight Celtics who got playing time finished with double digits.
