The Western Conference fan vote delivered a clear winner, and it was not the Warriors or Nuggets superstar many expected.
Not Nikola Jokic or Steph Curry: This is who got the most votes from fans in the NBA Western Conference
When the 2026 NBA All-Star fan totals were revealed, there was little ambiguity at the top of the Western Conference ballot.
Luka Doncic received 3,402,967 fan votes, the highest total in the conference. Despite heavy support for Stephen Curry and reigning MVP Nikola Jokic, it was the Los Angeles Lakers guard who drew the most backing from the public.
Luka Doncic leads Western Conference fan voting
Doncic finished first in the fan category, comfortably ahead of Jokic, who received 2,992,895 votes, and Curry, who followed with 2,817,562.
Fan voting accounts for 50 percent of the All-Star starter formula, with players and media each contributing 25 percent. That structure often reshapes the final order, but strictly in terms of fan support, Doncic stood alone in the West.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander also posted a strong showing with 2,345,743 votes, supporting the narrative that his rise as one of the conference’s premier guards is worth following. Victor Wembanyama and Anthony Edwards rounded out a group that reflects a shifting balance of power in the Western Conference.
How the weighted system impacts the final starter results
While Doncic topped the fan vote, the overall weighted rankings incorporate player and media ballots. That broader evaluation can elevate or drop candidates depending on peer and analyst support. That put Jokic ahead of the Lakers man.
Still, when isolating the public’s voice, the result was decisive. In a conference loaded with household names, Doncic generated the strongest response from fans.
