Skip Bayless unleashes on Draymond Green: “I’m not engaging in one ounce of hyperbole”

When you make a big claim you better be prepared for someone to call you out on it, and the NBA has just had one of those moments.

Update:

Skip Bayless found his latest verbal sparring partner in Draymond Green, and, as usual, he came armed with all-caps intensity and a stack of stats. The veteran sports commentator used his podcast, The Skip Bayless Show, to tear into Green’s past comments about the Oklahoma City Thunder - though, curiously, they weren’t exactly fresh.

The back-and-forth stemmed from Green’s remarks in October, when he dismissed the Thunder as a team that “doesn’t strike fear” in anyone. Green pointed to their postgame rituals, where multiple players gather for interviews, as a sign of a squad lacking the seriousness needed to compete at the highest level.

Bayliss keeping Green’s receipts

Green’s comments clearly stuck with Bayless, who unloaded on the Golden State forward with his signature bombastic style. “They’re going to remember what you said. I’m going to remember what you said because these Thunder are as real as you can get,” Bayless declared. “This team is about to strike fear in your heart, Draymond Green, and give you heartburn all the way through the postseason.”

Not content to let Green’s take slide, Bayless methodically tore apart the idea that the Thunder aren’t intimidating. He rattled off a long list of defensive metrics, arguing that Oklahoma City isn’t just a contender – they’re making a case as the best regular-season team in NBA history.

One of Bayless’ biggest points of contention? Green’s claim that no one fears Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. “Maybe because he doesn’t talk trash, he doesn’t cheap-shot anybody the way Draymond does - the all-time dirtiest player in the history of the league,” Bayless shot back. “Who, by the way, down the stretch of games is looking more and more like a cold-blooded assassin. Are you watching, Draymond?”

The post on X that accompanied his verbal stat attack made Bayliss' feelings as clear as he could:

“WOULD YOU BELIEVE, DRAYMOND GREEN, THAT THE OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER ARE HAVING THE GREATEST SEASON IN NBA HISTORY? I MEAN EVER, IN HISTORY. THE FACTS SCREAM FOR THEMSELVES. I’M NOT MAKING ANY OF THIS UP. I’M NOT EXAGGERATING OR EMBELLISHING OR ENGAGING IN ONE OUNCE OF HYPERBOLE.”

What about Warriors vs Thunder?

For all of Bayless’ confidence, he acknowledged that none of this will matter if the Thunder don’t back it up in the postseason. He even entertained the possibility of a Warriors-Thunder matchup, speculating that Green’s teammates might regret his dismissive comments. “Maybe, if we do see Thunder versus Warriors, deep, deep down, Draymond Green will be scared to death,” Bayless pondered.
