Steph Curry’s bold take on rookie Cooper Flagg after Christmas Day showdown

The NBA once again captured the spotlight on Christmas Day with five exciting games, including the New York Knicks’ 126-124 comeback over the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Oklahoma City Thunder’s third loss of the season to the San Antonio Spurs, and the Golden State Warriors’ 126-116 victory over the Dallas Mavericks.

Flagg flies high again despite Mavs’ loss to Warriors

The Warriors welcomed the Mavericks to Chase Center, led by Jimmy Butler’s 14 points, nine assists, and nine rebounds, and Steph Curry’s 23 points, four assists, and three rebounds, key figures in securing the win.

Facing them was rookie Cooper Flagg, who delivered a another standout performance in his first Christmas Day game. Flagg scored 27 points on 13-of-21 shooting, adding six rebounds and five assists. Brandon Williams contributed 26 points for Dallas, who lost Anthony Davis to right groin spasms in the second quarter.

Curry hails Flagg as the future of the NBA

Curry praised the young forward’s performance, recognizing Flagg as one of the league’s emerging stars.

“Just a true hooper. Competitor... You forget how young he is. Just his presence out there on the court. The future is bright. I’m glad he got this experience in his first year to understand what the bright lights feel like. The league is in good hands,” Curry said after the game.

It’s worth noting that exactly one year ago, on December 25, 2024, the Mavericks saw Luka Doncic play his final game for Dallas before being sidelined with an injury and later traded to the Los Angeles Lakers.
