The Golden State Warriors were eliminated from the 2025 playoffs after falling to the Minnesota Timberwolves in five games during the Western Conference Semifinals.

Stephen Curry missed most of the series due to a Grade 1 hamstring strain, but Chef Curry already has his sights set on next season. He signed a one-year contract extension last summer worth $62.6 million.

At 37-years-old, retirement is starting to loom on the horizon - at least in the eyes of fans. But according to his father, Dell Curry, that moment is still a long way off. “He still loves the game,” Dell said.

“He’s a competitive player. He wants to win another title, so we’re not even close to that point yet. But when the time comes, I think he’ll make the right decision.”

Curry’s title hopes got a boost this year with the arrival of Jimmy Butler, who significantly improved the team’s offensive firepower. “Even if you park him in the corner at 40 or 41, you still have to guard him,” Dell added.

“That alone creates space for his teammates. If you can shoot, there’s a place for you in today’s NBA. And if you’re Stephen Curry, you can keep playing until you decide, ‘I’m done.’”

Interestingly, back in March, Curry admitted he wasn’t sure how long he’d stay in the league. During an appearance on Steiny & Guru on 95.7 The Game, he said: “I don’t know. I know what my contract looks like, and I’d definitely like to outlast it. But how long will that be? I have no idea.”

“I’ve tried answering that question before, and I’ve said different things depending on how I felt that day. But ultimately, it comes down to style—can I still play the way I want to? It’s not about points per game or stats. It’s more of a feeling: Can I dominate a game? Can I play my way for more than 30 minutes? Every year, you reevaluate yourself.”
