Stephen A. Smith wastes no time responding to LeBron James: “his ass lies a lot”
The drama between ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith and Lakers star LeBron James continues after LeBron’s comments on the Pat McAfee show rile Smith up.

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James and sports analyst Stephen A. Smith are currently engaged in a public feud that began over comments Smith made about LeBron’s son, Bronny. Smith suggested Bronny should start in the G League instead of the NBA, claiming he wasn’t ready for NBA action and was only there due to his father’s fame. LeBron took offense to this, confronting Smith during a game in February. LeBron expressed his dissatisfaction with Smith’s response, criticizing him for turning the situation into a media spectacle.
LeBron’s comments about Stephen A. Smith on “Pat McAfee”
On Wednesday, LeBron came onto “The Pat McAfee Show” and talked about the whole saga again. He compared Smith’s reaction to a “Taylor Swift tour run”, implying that Smith was milking the controversy for attention.

"He's going to be smiling from ear to ear when he hears me talking about him again…He's going to get home and grab some ice cream out of the fu*king freezer and sit in his chair in his tighty whities on the couch.”😂

He also said that Smith misunderstood the reason for the on-court confrontation.
“He completely missed the whole point. The whole point,” James said. “Never would I ever not allow people to talk about the sport and criticize players about what they do. That is your job to criticize, or to be in a position where if a guy’s not performing, you know? That’s all part of the game. But when you take it and you get personal with it, it’s my job to not only protect my damn household, but protect the players.”
He later made a joke that Smith is likely to be happy that LeBron is talking about him again.
“He’s gonna be smiling from ear to ear when he hears me talking about him again,” James said. “I know he’s gonna be happy as hell. He’s going to get home and grab some ice cream out of the f***ing freezer and sit in his chair in his tighty whities on the couch.”
Smith’s quick response to LeBron
It didn’t take long for Smith to fire back again. He went onto his own show to call LeBron a liar and accuse him of being passive-aggressive.
“There’s a lot of shady stuff that he does,” said Smith. “And one of the things is this passive aggressiveness. And the two-facedness and smile in your face and dig you in behind the back. I happen to know that about him, which is why I don’t like him, and he don’t like me.”
He also criticized LeBron for orchestrating their on-court encounter, claiming LeBron didn’t want a response but just wanted to provoke him. Smith also clarified that his initial criticism of Bronny was more about LeBron’s influence in getting him on the Lakers and the scrutiny that came with it, rather than the player’s performance itself.
He added even more fuel to the fire, saying this: “If that man would’ve put his hands on me. I would’ve immediately swung on him. Immediately.”
The feud has since escalated, with both sides continuing to exchange sharp words, and the situation remains unresolved, fueling a media spectacle.
