WNBA salaries explained: How much do rookies make after the 2026 Draft?
The WNBA’s new collective bargaining agreement leaves the 2026 rookie class earning more than ever before in the history of the league.

The 2026 WNBA Draft wasn’t just about new talent entering the league. This year, it marked the beginning of a financial shift that could redefine what it means to be a professional women’s basketball player.
With a new collective bargaining agreement (CBA) in place, this year’s rookie class is stepping into a dramatically different landscape than those before them.
Massive jump in WNBA rookie earnings
For years, WNBA rookie salaries were modest compared to other professional leagues, often pushing players to compete overseas during the offseason. That’s changing fast.
The No. 1 pick in the 2026 draft, Azzi Fudd, is projected to earn around $500,000, a massive increase from the roughly $78,000 earned by last year’s top selection, Paige Bueckers.

The league’s salary structure is expected to rise significantly, with average salaries increasing to over $500,000, minimum salaries starting around $270,000, and top players becoming eligible for multi-million-dollar deals.
The spike in salaries comes after the WNBA and its players agreed to a new CBA that includes revenue sharing and expanded benefits. The deal reflects the league’s rapid growth in recent years, driven by increased viewership, attendance, and star power. Players will now receive a more substantial share of league revenue, something that had long been a point of contention in past negotiations.

The new agreement goes beyond base pay, introducing several key improvements to player conditions, including:
- Guaranteed housing
- Chartered flights
- Enhanced practice facilities
- Expanded health and wellness benefits
- Pregnancy protections
Together, these changes aim to improve both the financial stability and overall quality of life for players.
The 2026 draft class enters the WNBA at a pivotal moment. With rising salaries, better benefits, and increased visibility, the league is positioning itself for long-term growth and giving its newest players opportunities that didn’t exist just a few years ago.
