Stephen Curry wants to retire with the Warriors: I want this to be my only home
The Warriors drafted Curry with the seventh overall pick in the 2009 Draft and in 13 professional seasons with them he has won four NBA titles.
Thirteen years after being drafted by the Golden State Warriors in the first round of the 2009 Draft, Stephen Curry is still grateful to the organization and has no intention of leaving the Bay anytime soon.
In an interview with NBC Sports during a game between the MLB A’s and Astros, Curry indicated that he wants to finish his career at Golden State. He went even further by adding that after retiring, he plans to stay in San Francisco.
“I never want to leave. I want this to be my only home,” he said.
“Even thinking about the end of my career, I will still have reasons to stay. We will still have a presence here. We will still call this place home.”
Curry’s retirement is likely closer than thought. In 2021, he agreed to a four-year, $215 million ($53.75 million per season) extension that will expire in 2026, when the guard would be 38 years old.
Historic in the Bay
After nearly a decade and a half with the Warriors, Curry leads the franchise in the departments of points, assists, steals, and games played. In addition, he is the holder of the three-point record, which he achieved in December 2021.
In his career, Curry has tallied an average of 24.3 points per game, 4.6 rebounds and 6.5 assists with an average shooting of .473 from the field and .428 from the three-point area. Additionally, he boasts eight All-Star and All-NBA designations, four league titles, two MVPs and the 2022 Finals MVP.
