The Golden State Warriors ended the NBA Finals in Game 6 on Thursday night, but there is a full summer slate of sports to keep you plenty entertained.

BEN STANSALLDiarioAS

It was a busy weekend in the sports world with the Golden State Warriors winning the NBA title and Matt Fitzpatrick winning the 122nd U.S. Open at the Country Club.

With no basketball, and the third major championship of the golf season behind us some fanatics might have an empty feeling in their belly as they scavenge for sports on their TV guide.

We at AS English are here to point you in the right direction for those of you who are lost after the NBA Playoffs.

Hockey

We are in the thick of the Stanley Cup Finals as Tampa Bay Lightening are looking to go back-to-back-to-back, but trail the Colorado Avalanche going in to Game 4. Game 4 will be played Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET, Game 5 will be Friday, and if necessary Game 6 on Sunday and Game 7 on Tuesday.

Baseball

The good news is, if you’re a baseball fan you will have an endless buffet of games to watch until mid July. There will be a brief pause for the Mid Summer Classic the weekend of July 19th. After the All-Star Break it’s full steam ahead until the postseason and the World Series.

The College World Series is currently underway as eight teams battle to be crowned kings of college baseball. Texas, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Arkansas, Auburn, Stanford and Ole Miss are all looking for a place in the Championship game on June 27th.

Golf

There is just one more major left in the golf season. It’s The Open Championship which will be played at the legendary Old Course at St. Andrews. Colina Morikawa will look to defend his title after winning The Open last year in St. George’s Golf Club. The first round starts on Thursday, July 14th.

Charles Schwartzel was the winner of the inaugural LIV Golf tour even in London earlier this month. The second event will be played in Pumpkin Ridge Golf Course in Portland, Oregon. Schwartzel will join a field of players including Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson, Bryson DeChambeau, Patrick Reed and Rickie Fowler in LIV Golf tour’s second event.

Tennis

The world’s best tennis players head to the the All England Club as Novak Djokovic and Ashleigh Barty to make defend their titles at Wimbledon Qualifiers started today, and the first round will commence on June 27th with the Ladies’ final being played on July 9th and the Men’s Final on July 10.

The fourth and final grand slam will be played across the pond as Flushing Meadows, New York plays host to the US Open from August 29th to September 11th.

Soccer

With the World Cup being held in November, the big leagues around Europe will be forced to start their season’s a few weeks either. The first match day of the EPL will be played on August 5th when Crystal Palace hosts Arsenal from Selhurst Park Stadium.

La Liga’s schedule has yet to be announced, but plans are to start the season around the same time as in England.

Football

The long awaited return of the National Football League is so close you can almost smell the tailgates and hear the clashing of the pads. The preseason will kickoff on August 4th when the Las Vegas Raiders host the the Jacksonville Jaguars in the Hall of Fame Game from Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium, Canton, OH. The preseason will last until August 28th with the opening game of the regular season kicking off from Sofi Stadium on September 8th as the defending champion Los Angeles Rams host the Buffalo Bills.

The college football schedule season starts two weekends before Week 1 of the NFL, with Austin Peay taking on Western Kentuky. On that same day Northwestern and Nebraska will start their season from Dublin, Ireland for the Aer Lingus College Football Classic.

It may seem like there is a void with the end of the basketball season upon us, but the rest of the sports world will keep us entertained until the NBA tips off again in the fall.
