Update:

Philadelphia 76ers small forward Paul George has been ruled out for the remainder of the season after receiving injections in his left adductor muscle and left knee, the franchise announced Monday.

The 34-year-old spent the last week consulting various doctors to obtain a clearer diagnosis of his condition. It has been determined that he will be sidelined for at least six weeks.

The situation has raised significant concerns for the 76ers, as Joel Embiid is also out for the remainder of the season while recovering from a knee injury.

The Sixers' postseason chances

Currently, the Sixers hold a 23-44 record, falling further from playoff contention. They are presently ranked 12th in the Eastern Conference, making a postseason run increasingly unlikely.

Paul George signed a four-year max contract worth $212 million during the last offseason but managed to appear in only 41 games with the 76ers. Over the course of the 2024 season, he averaged 16.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game.

Recent reports suggest that the Sixers will try to move him on this summer after interest from the Warriors, the Hawks and Golden State, who tried to do a sign-and-trade with the Clippers for George in June before he signed with the Sixers in free agency.
