The end of the road for Joel Embiid
The 76ers players knee has been the source of frustration with the Cameroon international only being able to play 19 games this season.
One of the worst fears for 76ers fans has finally come to fruition with the news from the team that Joel Embiid will not play any more for the remainder of the season.
The Philadelphia 76ers released a statement late on Friday, February 28 and explained that after consulting the best doctors, a conclusion has been reached that the Cameroon international “is medically unable to play.” His ongoing problems with his left knee have only allowed him to play 19 of the 58 games the Sixers have played this season with the center averaging 23.8 points, 8.2 rebounds and 4.5 assists.

Embiid, who has had significant physical problems since before making his NBA debut, already had surgery on that same knee in February 2024.
The team explains in the statement that they are working with medical experts to decide what decision to make, although anything other than going a surgical procedure would be a surprise.

The Sixers had nine consecutive losses and a record of 20-38 that sees the team languish in 12th place in the Eastern Conference.
