The Golden State Warriors are already eyeing their next NBA reinforcement
The Golden State Warriors have been harshly criticised by their fans, who are asking for reinforcements to remain in the spotlight.
The NBA market continues to evolve, and in the Western Conference, the Golden State Warriors are facing heavy criticism from fans demanding reinforcements to keep the team competitive.
So far, the Warriors have extended the contracts of Gui Santos and Quinten Post. In the draft, they selected Australian forward Alex Toohey with the 52nd overall pick (originally belonging to the Phoenix Suns) and Will Richard at No. 56 (via the Memphis Grizzlies).
De’Anthony Melton draws interest from the Warriors
After a brief stint with the Warriors during the 2024–25 season, point guard De’Anthony Melton could be on his way back to the Bay Area. According to insider Marc Stein, Golden State has emerged as a strong contender to re-sign Melton, especially now that other teams—reportedly including the Lakers—have dropped out of the race.
Melton originally signed with the Warriors in July 2024 on a one-year, $12.8 million deal. However, he was traded to the Brooklyn Nets in December, along with several second-round picks, as part of the deal that brought Dennis Schröder to Golden State.
Unfortunately, Melton was limited to just six games with the Warriors before suffering a torn ACL in his left knee, which sidelined him for the rest of the season. In that short stretch, he averaged 10 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists per game. Despite the injury, he remains a sought-after free agent and could potentially return for a second chapter with the Dubs—possibly filling in for Gary Payton II, who had leapfrogged him in the rotation last season.
