The huge difference that puts Michael Jordan over LeBron James as the GOAT of the NBA

Once again, the debate was ignited about who the best basketball player in the NBA is: LeBron James or Michael Jordan? To some, the answer is crystal clear.

It seems that the debate about who exactly is the best basketball player of all time in the NBA has been rekindled, just as Michael Jordan turns 60.

LeBron’s record-setting points

And with good reason. Just last week, the star of the Los Angeles Lakers, LeBron James, broke the prestigious record as the top scorer of points; a mark that belonged to Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for almost four decades. It’s an argument that works very much in favor of King James.

Jordan’s string of championships

The Chicago Bulls legend, meanwhile, sits at fifth place on the list of top career scorers. However, he does have in his favor the fact that he obtained two ‘three-peats’ that made the Bulls seem unbeatable. LeBron, on the other hand, has four championships to his name.

In light of the recently revived debate, one of the most recognized journalists in the sports world in the United States was questioned about his position on the best basketball player.

The difference between Jordan and LeBron

The argument made by ESPN journalist Stephen Smith that puts Jordan above James, is the fear that his rivals had of the number ‘23′ of the Bulls.

“Everyone universally respects LeBron, one of the greatest ever… [But] They feared Jordan, they were scared,” said Smith as a guest on the Full Send Podcast.

As far as Smith is concerned, those who have watched both players in action can clearly see who the GOAT is.

“I respect the debate, but I think the debate is for folks with youth. Folks who are a little bit older, who watched MJ, and watched LeBron, know, beyond a shadow of a doubt,” according to the journalist.
