The Orlando Magic will kick off the 2025–26 season with an international tour that highlights their growing global presence.

The team will open preseason play on October 4 against the Miami Heat at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot in San Juan, Puerto Rico. This matchup between Southeast Division rivals is part of a broader effort to strengthen ties with the Puerto Rican community both on the island and in Central Florida.

Ryan DeVos, Orlando Magic’s Managing Director, expressed his excitement about the team’s upcoming preseason game in Puerto Rico, highlighting the strong connection with the Puerto Rican fan base.

We’re incredibly excited about it. We see Puerto Rico as a continuation of our market,” DeVos said. “We’ve got a fantastic Puerto Rican fanbase in Central Florida, and we’re thrilled to be part of this opportunity.”

The Carlos Arroyo connection

The NBA has seen eight players born in Puerto Rico, but few made an impact like Carlos Alberto Arroyo Bermúdez. Born in Fajardo on July 30, 1979, Arroyo carved out a nine-year career in the league, including a memorable three-season stint with the Orlando Magic.

Arroyo joined the Magic in February 2006 via a trade with the Detroit Pistons. Over the course of 161 games in Orlando, he averaged: 7.9 points, 3.1 assists, 1.9 rebounds in 19.7 minutes per game

His time with the Magic helped solidify a strong connection between the franchise and Puerto Rico, a bond that continues today as the team prepares to play a preseason game in San Juan.
