Update:

As NBA All-Star Weekend approaches in February 2026, one of the most anticipated showcases for the league’s up-and-coming talent is the Castrol Rising Stars mini-tournament.

This year’s event, set for Friday, February 13 at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California, brings a fresh twist on the traditional rookie-sophomore game with a four-team format and celebrity coaches drafting the squads.

The Rising Stars competition highlights the league’s brightest young players, from standout rookies to promising sophomores and select NBA G League standouts. What used to be a single exhibition is now a short knockout setup: two semifinal games followed by a championship contest between the winners.

For 2026, the NBA tapped four well-known basketball figures to serve as honorary coaches for the mini-tourney. Hall of Famers Carmelo Anthony, Tracy McGrady and Vince Carter each selected players for their squads, while veteran guard and coach Austin Rivers took the helm of the G League team. Behind the scenes, each group is supported by an assistant from the All-Star coaching staffs to handle in-game strategy and rotations.

Castrol Rising Stars complete rosters:

Led by Carmelo Anthony, Team Melo’s roster is headlined by Dallas Mavericks rookie Cooper Flagg alongside talent such as Stephon Castle (San Antonio), Reed Sheppard (Houston), Dylan Harper (San Antonio), Jeremiah Fears (New Orleans), Donovan Clingan (Portland) and Collin Murray-Boyles (Toronto).

Team T-Mac

Tracy McGrady’s Team T-Mac features Charlotte’s Kon Knueppel, the second overall pick, along with Kel’el Ware (Miami), Tre Johnson (Washington), Alex Sarr (Washington), Ajay Mitchell (Oklahoma City), Cam Spencer (Memphis) and Jaylon Tyson (Cleveland).

Team Vince

Vince Carter’s squad boasts Philadelphia’s VJ Edgecombe and a mix of other young contributors: Kyshawn George (Washington), Matas Buzelis (Chicago), Egor Dëmin (Brooklyn), Cedric Coward (Memphis), Derik Queen (New Orleans) and Jaylen Wells (Memphis).

Team Austin

Austin Rivers’ Team Austin comprises players drawn from the NBA G League, including Sean East II, Ron Harper Jr., Yanic Niederhauser, Alijah Martin, Tristen Newton, Yang Hansen and Mac McClung, who recently joined the roster as an injury replacement for David Jones García.
