Update:

New York Knicks’ energiser bunny Josh Hart has revealed that his unusually high caffeine intake, between 500 and 600 mg per day, isn’t just about being a relentless competitor. According to an interview he gave to The Athletic, the reason runs deeper: it simply helps him balance the chaos of NBA life with the demands of being a father.

Hart’s caffeine habit really kicked in after the birth of his twin sons in May 2023. As he told reporter James L. Edwards III, “It really started when I had kids,” said Hart, who has 2-year-old twin boys with his wife. “I have to try and function.”

Like a true athlete, he sticks to a rigid daily schedule, waking up early to spend time with his boys, regardless of how the Knicks’ game day is arranged. “I wake up at 7:30 every morning. The (boys) are in a little school. … If I don’t see them in the morning, I might not see them all day.”

Hart’s crazy coffee routine

On a typical day, Hart begins with a double-shot latte to jump-start his day. Then he naps after lunch before taking in more caffeine and ultimately ramping it up further with a pre-game boost.

While this may seem a bit much for some who can’t drink more than a single cappuccino, it is far from his only unconventional habit. On previous occasions in front of the media, Hart admitted to indulging heavily in candy, particularly Mike and Ikes, which I personally can’t hold against him.

This season with the New York Knicks, Josh Hart has put up stellar all-around numbers, putting up numbers of 13.6 points, 9.6 rebounds, and 5.9 assists during an average of 37.6 minutes per game.

As for the Knicks, they are putting in a strong performance so far this season, and sit in 4th in the Eastern Conference, with an 8-5 record.
