Steph Curry produced one of the most remarkable performances of his career to help the Golden State Warriors edge past the Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday. Curry had the Chase Center on its feet with a sizzling solo display, becoming the the first player in NBA history to record back-to-back games of 40+ points, a field goal percentage of 65%+ and 5+ 3pt FGM. Almost half of those 40 points came in a jaw-dropping final quarter, with the Warriors closing the game on a 46-29 run. Curry also becomes the oldest player to register consecutive 40-point games since Michael Jordan managed the feat in 2002.

After posting a season-high 47 points on 17-of-24 shooting (70.8% FG) in Monday’s 116-113 home win against the Sacramento Kings, Curry electrified the Chase Center crowd once more for consecutive 40-plus point performances. The Cavs were 95-87 up with 4:38 left on the clock before Curry turned the game on its head, sinking two three-pointers, a two-pointer and two free throws to ice the game.

Curry adds spice to 4Q

He finished with a stunning 15-of-23 (65.2% FG), hitting six-of-11 threes while adding five assists and two turnovers. Andrew Wiggins chipped in with 20 points (eight-of-13 shooting), Draymond Green ended with a season-highs in assists (13) and rebounds (9), while Jordan Poole contributed 18 points (six-of-13) off the bench.

Warriors coach Steve Kerr was left almost speechless by Curry’s display and heaped praise on the guard in his post-match press briefing: “You run out of adjectives to describe Steph’s play. He’s just amazing night after night. Given the circumstances with our team kind of in a rut, trying to dig our way out of a hole, he’s just been spectacular. He’s never been better, I can say that. He’s in such great shape. If there’s one area that he’s dramatically better now than when I first got here eight years ago it’s just his strength and conditioning. He’s much bigger and stronger, much more capable of defending at a really high level and sustaining two-way basketball for an entire game and just knocking down shots from all over and finishing at the rim. He’s unbelievable.”.

Donovan Mitchell continued his strong start in a Cavaliers uniform as he put up 29 points (10-of-20), 10 rebounds and nine assists, registering a plus/minus of plus seven in his 37 minutes.
