Warriors 93 vs 117 Timberwolves summary, stats, scores and highlights | NBA Playoffs Game 2

This is the moment that has the Target Center shaking with fear. Anthony Edwards went up for a lay up and had his left foot stepped on by Trace Jackson-Davis. He stayed down and went right to the locker room. He has a sprained ankle but came back for the second half.
The Wolves tied the series up at 1-1 on Wednesday night and now we shift to San Francisco for the next two games. Steph will miss both of those games at Chase Arena, and the Warriors will just be hoping to win one of those until Curry can potentially make a comeback. Game 3 is on Saturday at 8:30 p.m. ET.
Edwards wasn't great in Game 2, even before the injury. He was missing lay ups and shots close to the bucket but still ended the night with 20, 9 and 5 assists.
The Wolves play well when Jaden McDaniels plays well. This play shows you all he can do on the court. He got a block on one end and a slam on the other. Randle led Minnesota in scoring but McDaniels' energy carried them all night.
The Warriors did give the Wolves a scare at the middle of the 3rd quarter. Hield hit a three to cut the lead to seven. That would be the closest they got for the rest of the game.
The one good thing that came out of the night for the Warriors was Jonathan Kuminga who came off the bench and had 18 points to lead Golden State in Game 2. We should be seeing more of him in Game 3 back in the Bay.
Even before Edwards got hurt, it was Julius Randle running the show. He had 16 in the first half and carried the team until Edwards came back to action. The lead bubbled up to 20 points and the Wolves kept that lead for much of the night.
Everything was going perfectly for the Wolves until Anthony Edwards went down with an ankle injury in the second quarter. It turned out to be just a scare after going to the locker room and getting checked out. He came back after the halftime break and looked like he was not affected by that ankle.
McDaniels got back to playing his best like he was in the Lakers series in Game 2. He had 16 points, 3 blocks and 2 steals in the game doing it on both ends of the floor.
The defense drastically improved for the Wolves in Game 1. The shut the Warriors down in the first quarter, holding them to just 15 points, and many of those defensive stops led to points on the other end.
The Minnesota Timberwolves went into Game 2 knowing there was no margin for error and got. wire-to-wire win over the Golden State Warriors with no Steph Curry. Julius Randle had 24, 7 and 11 assists in the Timberwolves comfortable win on Thursday night.
The Wolves came out hot and got out to an early double digit lead. They lead 13-0 to start the game and held the Warriors off the score board for the first five minutes.

Warriors starters
WIth no Curry available the Warriors are going big in game two. It's Podziemski, Hield, Butler, Green and Post to start in Game 2. Everyone is going to need to pitch in. From top to bottom, GS need everyone to step up.
Wolves starting five
It may not have worked for coach Finch in Game 1, but he's going with the same starting five in Game 1. It's Conley, Edwards, McDaniels, Randle and Gobert to begin this must win game at the Target Cetner.
Kuminga’s time to shine
Steph Curry is going to be out for the next few days, a week, maybe longer. There is no getting around that. That opens the door for other players to step up, namely Jonathan Kuminga. There was talk of him carrying this franchise into the next phase a few years ago. He had a break out season last year and was expected to make that jump this year, but injuries roster changes and inconsistency has interrupted that progress since he post 16, 5 and 2 last year. His numbers aren’t terrible this year. He’s getting 15.3, 4.6 and 2.2, but only played 47 games. He’s still only 22 years old, and going to get his chance to make his mark on this series over the next few games.
Injury report: Wolves
Same ole same ole for this Wolves team who have remained healthy for the final stretch of the season and into the playoffs. Their only absence tonight is rookie Rob Dillingham who is out with an ankle sprain that he suffered leading up to the final stretch of the season. The rest of the roster is set for tonight and will be looking to even up the series before heading went for Game 3 and 4.
Injury report: Warriors
The Warriors know they are coming into this Game 2 severely undermanned with Step Curry having been ruled out for the next few games at least. His strained hamstring is going to put pressure on everyone else to step up from top to bottom on the roster. Luckily for Steve Kerr, he has a full roster as Gary Payton II is on the report but listed as available. He had been battling a sickness for the last couple games, and suffered a thumb injury last game but he’s ready to roll tonight in a Game 2 that Golden State will be hoping to steal from Minnesota.
McDaniels slumping?
The Minnesota Timberwolves need Anthony Edwards to be their star of the show, but when Minnesota was playing their best against the Lakers Jaden McDaniels was putting up big numbers. He had 25 in the first game against LA, and 30 in Game 3. He doesn’t need to be the top scorer on the court, especially when you consider how much he does of the defensive side of the ball, but I expect him to come out and have a big day on the offensive end. With no Curry on the floor, he might draw Jimmy Butler on defense but on the other side of the floor he is going to feed off of Anthony Edwards.
Finch calls out ANT
Chris Finch knows that he has one of the best players of today and tomorrow on his team. He knows that Edwards is going to be the key to this team’s success. He also knows ANT can’t keep playing the way he has played over the last two games. He was blunt about that after the Game 1 loss on Tuesday in the post match presser. “You’re the leader of the team, and you got to set the tone… If your shot is not going, you still have to carry the energy. If I have to talk to guys about having the right energy coming into the opening game of a second round game than we’re not on the same page.”
ANT’s reaction to shooting stats
The Timberwolves have been historically bad from behind the three point line and after their Game 1 loss Anthony Edwards and Julius Randle were told just how poorly they have been from downtown. The number: 12/76. That’s 15.7% from three point range. It’s no laughing matter but you could see the shock on ANT Man’s face when the reporter told him the stat. He and Randle broke into a chuckle knowing that they can’t keep shooting this poorly and expect to win. They seem to be taking the loss and their bad shooting lightly, but should it continue tonight and they lose a second game, it will no longer be something to take lightly.
Star watch: Wolves
Calling Anthony Edwards. The guy who a lot of people, including myself, are ready to crown the next face of the league has been MIA. In the close out game against the Lakers he went just 5/19 and had 15 points, but did grab 11 rebounds and 8 assists. Hard to call a near triple double “missing in action” but he did go 0/11 from three point range and didn’t have a huge impact on the game in LA. In Game 1, ANT went 9/22 but a lot of those field goals came in the 4th quarter when the Wolves were in desperation mode. He is 1/16 from three point range over the last two games, and just got called out by his coach after last game.
Star watch: Warriors
The Warriors brought Jimmy Butler to the Bay in the middle of the season to help them make a title run. They weren’t thinking he would have to do it all on his own, but at the moment he is the one and only star for the Warriors, and he is going to have to carry them in this series without Steph Curry for how ever many games he will be out. He had 20 points last game, but had 11 rebounds and 8 assists. That’s what he is going to need to do for the next few games. It’s not about scoring 40 or 50, it’s going to be about playing complete basketball that gets the rest of the team involved. He is Playoff Jimmy and we have seen him take an 8 seed to the NBA Finals, so don’t put anything past him.
Curry’s injury update
It’s the story of this series and might be one of the stories of the postseason. Steph Curry pulled up and check out of the game after a floater from the elbow midway through the second quarter and that was it. He never came back into the game and was later diagnosed with a hamstring strain. After an MRI on Wednesday, he was first ruled out for Game 2, and then reports came out that he is out for at least a week. If it is indeed just a week, that would keep him out until Game 5, which would be played back here in Minnesota. Hamstrings are tricky, and need to be healed properly. One week might be an optimistic projection for a return but the Warriors will be crossing their fingers that a week will be all they have to wait. They will also be crossing their fingers that they can win one of the next few games without Curry.
Game 1 recap
The Golden State Warriors went into Minnesota on the heels of their Game 7 win over the Houston Rockets, and it was them that looked the fresher team. Draymond Green came out on fire and set the tone for the Warriors and Steph Curry had 13 points before having to check out of the game with his hamstring injury. Jimmy Butler and Buddy Hield stepped up once Steph went down but it was the defense that controlled the game on Tuesday night. They kept the Wolves to 11 points in the 2nd quarter and held them to 5/29 from the three point line. Without Steph it seemed like the Warriors were just trying to hang on late in the game as Naz Reid and Anthony Edwards started to heat up, but Hield’s 24, Butler’s 20 and Green’s 18 were too much as the defense locked down the Wolves.
We are live from Minnesota
Hello everyone and welcome to the Target Center where the Wolves know it’s put up or shut up time. They lost the series opener to the Warriors despite Steph Curry having to miss most of the game with a hamstring strain. Tonight Minnesota need a win before heading west and it’s going to be up to Anthony Edwards to lift his team up after a slow start in Game 1. The Warriors got their win on the road to take home court advantage away, but why not try and steal another on the road? They are without Steph Curry, and no one expects them to win, but let’s not forget they have Playoff Jimmy on their side and Buddy Hield might be the hottest shooter in the postseason over the last week.
Warriors vs. Timberwolves Game 2
After a shocking Game 1 win without their star shooter and four time champion the Golden State Warriors have to try and steal another one in Minnesota without Steph Curry. The Timberwolves know the Warriors are short handed and they need a win before hitting the road. It’s Game 2 between Golden State and Minnesota from Target Center and AS English will be with you all night providing live coverage, stats, highlights and analysis of tonight’s must win game for the home side.
