Portland Trail Blazers guard Scoot Henderson suffered an injury in the game against the Detroit Pistons, and the side now have to deal without their guard for the short-term future. The physical issue was sustained back on November 1, and the side have been without their player since.

An incredibly brief official statement from the NBA revealed that the player suffered bone bruising in addition to the right ankle sprain and that he will be out for a further 2-3 weeks.

What is Scoot Henderson’s record with the Portland Trail Blazers?

He has missed Portland’s last three games, two against the Grizzlies (101-110, 115-113) and a loss to the Kings (121-118). The injury comes at an unfortunate time for the guard who was set to be one of the standout rookies of the NBA season and a potential winner for NBA Rookie of the Year. Now, however, that bet seems more unlikely, despite the fact that the player even said it himself.

Henderson, the No. 3 pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, had averaged 8.8 points and 4.6 assists in 28.4 minutes in five appearances for his side prior to the injury. He had been shooting 34.6% from the floor and 9.5% from the three-point arc.

Who else is injured for the Portland Trail Blazers?

Henderson is not the only big injury worry the side have to contest with, as Anfernee Simons is also out of action as he is recovering from surgery on his thumb which will see him on the sidelines for at least another month.

Center Robert Williams III is set to undergo surgery on his right knee and will, as a result, miss the rest of the season. As well as Simons and Williams, Malcolm Brogdon suffered a hamstring injury in the game against the Sacramento Kings. He is also set to spend some time in the recovery room for the Trail Blazers.

The next game for the Portland Trail Blazers is against Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday, November 12, with tip-off at 10 p.m. ET / 7 p.m. PT.
