What was Caitlin Clark’s response to her Paris 2024 Olympics snub?
As if the Caitlin Clark craziness wasn’t already intense, then she was left off the Olympic team. On the other hand, her response was nothing but classy.
For the past few weeks, the country has been up in arms over Caitlin Clark. From debates about whether she’s being targeted to whether she should be protected more, it’s safe to say that everybody has had an opinion. Yet, through it all, Clark herself has been rather quiet, a testament to her character one could say. That is, until now.
Caitlin Clark addresses Olympic snub
As you probably saw in our previous report, Caitlin Clark has been left off of the U.S. women’s basketball team that will travel to Paris this summer for the 2024 Olympic Games. It was a decision that shocked the basketball world and is still being processed. Officially, a lack of playing time was cited as the base reason for Clark’s omission, but it’s safe to say that many have their own view. Nonetheless, the former Iowa star has finally broken her silence on the issue and its got to be said that she did so with class.
Indeed, while countless fans were left angry about the fact that she won’t be in France, Clark explained that she was not upset but rather will use this moment as motivation to secure a spot on the team for the 2028 Oylmpics. “Honestly, no disappointment. I think it just gives you something to work for,” Clark said. “It’s a dream, hopefully one day I can be there. I think it’s just a little more motivation. You remember that and hopefully in four years, when four years comes back around, I can be there.”
Interestingly, Clark didn’t stop there either as she went on to speak about the 12 women who were in fact selected for Team USA. “I’m excited for the girls that are on the team,” Clark said. “I know it’s the most competitive team in the world. I know it could’ve gone either way of me being on the team, me not being on the team. I’m excited for them. I’m going to be rooting them on to win gold.” Needless to say, Clark’s absence will have some effect on viewership as she has singlehandedly brought in massive ratings since joining the WNBA’s Indiana Fever. Truthfully, she was doing that even before she entered the league, which does play into the narrative that part of the reason she was left off the team was a concern about how fans would respond to what would likely be limited playing time. Whatever the case, it doesn’t seem to be a problem for her.
