As the NBA regular season enters its final month, it’s a good time to start thinking about which teams will make it to the postseason. The regular season ends on Sunday, April 14, and then we’ll have the play-in tournament and playoffs. The top six teams in both the Western and Eastern conferences will automatically qualify for the playoffs, while teams ranked 7-10 will have to compete in the play-in tournament for a chance to secure a spot.

When is the NBA play-in tournament?

The 2024 NBA play-in tournament is scheduled to start on Tuesday, April 16, and end on Friday, April 19. This tournament determines the last teams that will qualify for the playoffs. It is a single-elimination competition where the no. The 7th ranked team will play against the no. 8 ranked team, and the no. 9 ranked team will play against the no. 10 ranked team. The winner of the game between the no. 7 and no. 8 ranked teams will secure the no. 7 seed, while the loser of that game will play against the winner between the no. 9 and no. 10 ranked teams to determine the no. 8 seed. The teams that win the seventh and eighth seeds will earn their spot in the playoffs.
