When do the NBA 2024 playoffs start?

The NBA regular season is entering its final stage. It will get to a close in one month and teams are trying to perform at their best to make sure they grab a spot for the playoffs.

However, only the best six teams in each conference throughout the campaign will have the chance to go further in the tournament. The Boston Celtics and the Milwaukee Bucks are the two best teams in the East, while in the West things are a little tighter, with the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Denver Nuggets, and the Minnesota Timberwolves engaging in a very close battle for the top spot in the standings.

When is the NBA Play-In Tournament?

The teams that will be close but won’t make it to the playoffs will have the chance of getting a spot among the best sides when they compete in the Play-In Tournament.

It will take place from Tuesday, April 16, to Friday, April 19. The teams who end the season between the No. 7 and 10 in the standings will play in the tournament and the winners will be the last sides to qualify for the playoffs.

On Tuesday, April 16, each conference’s No. 7 will host the No. 8 team. The winners will secure the No. 7 seed in the playoffs, while the losers will get another shot at qualifying for the postseason on April 19.

On Wednesday, April 17, each conference’s No. 9 team will host the No. 10 team. Whoever comes out on top will advance to the final stage of the Play-In Tournament on April 19.

On Friday, April 19, the losers of the No. 7 vs. No. 8 games will take on the winners of the No. 9 vs. No. 10 clashes. The team that emerges victorious will secure the No. 8 seed in the NBA playoffs for its conference.

When are the NBA Playoffs?

After all the Play-In tournament action, fans won’t need to wait for more excitement, as the first round of the playoffs will start next next day, on Saturday, April 20.

The conference semifinals will begin May 6-7 but they could be played in May 4-5 if the series gets to a close earlier than expected, while the conference finals are expected to start May 21-22, although they could move up to May 19-20.

The 2024 NBA Finals will take place on June 6.
