Why did LeBron James cut his press conference short when asked about Dillon Brooks?
As they head into Game 3 it would appear the Lakers’ superstar is in no mood for games. What that means for the Grizzlies is something we will all find out.
Even before this series tipped off, it was clear we were going to be in for a bumpy ride. The war of words between the two camps was hard to ignore and at the center of it was the Grizzlies Dillon Brooks, who had clearly taken issue with LA’s main man. The question is, has he bitten off more than he can chew?

If it wasn’t clear before, let us be the ones to tell you that Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James doesn’t care much for Memphis Grizzlies forward Dillon Brooks. To that end, James completely blanked questions that were directed at him about Brooks’ trash talk after Memphis got the win in Game 2. To be clear, James and Brooks exchanged aggressive looks and choice words during the Grizzlies 103-93 win which in turn tied the series at 1-1. Following the game, Brooks referred to James as “old” when saying he wasn’t worried about provoking the former MVP.
James of course, had little to say about Brooks comments. Shaking his head while offering a simple no when asked whether he had a response to Brooks’ comments, James went on to clarify that no playoff game has ever been won by trash talk. “The game is won in between the four lines. Always has, always will be,” he said. With that, James then declared that he was done speaking before stating that he was “not here for the bulls***” before walking away?
What can we take from LeBron James’ comments?
At this point, the one thing that needs no further examination is James position on Brooks and the war of words up to this point. What’s also clear is that the four-time NBA champion intends to do his talking on the court rather than with a microphone. What that means for the Grizzlies prospects is unclear at this point, but few have provoked LeBron James in the past and come out of the resulting experience with a win. That’s all to say, the Grizzlies would probably do much better to focus on their game, rather than the chatter around it. Game 3 tips off at 10:00 p.m. ET, don’t miss it!
