Why is Joel Embiid not playing for the 76ers today against the Pistons?
The NBA superstar will not feature for his side as they go up against the Detroit outfit in the NBA.
Joel Embiid will play no part in his side’s game against the Detroit Pistons in the NBA 2024 season as the center continues to struggle with an injury that has kept him out for four games.
Embiid, a two-time NBA scoring champion, is fighting to get over a physical issue in his knee that he suffered ahead of the game against the Brooklyn Nets.
“The swelling’s gone down a bit,” 76ers head coach Nick Nurse said on Friday via NBC Sports Philadelphia before admitting that there is “still some soreness there. That’s about all I can say.”
What is Joel Embiid’s record this season?
According to the official injury report that the 76ers submitted to the NBA, Embiid is unavailable due to “left knee injury management/personal reasons”.
Embiid sat out the start of the season and has not been able to put a string of consistent minutes together at all during the current campaign. As such, he is sitting on 19.8 points, 7.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists over just four games - the first time he has ever averaged under 20 points and his first time averaging less than 10 rebounds since his first year in 2016-17.
Dowtin Jr. and Lowry are also out for the 76ers, with Paul George and Caleb Martin listed as questionable ahead of the game.
The Pistons host the 76ers on Saturday 30 November at 7:pm ET at Little Caesars Arena.
