Why isn’t Jaime Jaquez Jr. playing against the Celtics tonight Jan. 25?
The Miami Heat are hosting the league leading Boston Celtics in a rematch of last season’s Conference Finals, but they will be without Jaime Jaquez Jr.
We have a rematch of the Eastern Conference Finals tonight in Miami as the Heat host the Boston Celtics from the Kayesa Center. The Heat are in the midst of a four game losing streak and will be without one of Jaime Jaquez Jr tonight from Dade County.
Jaquez to miss fifth straight
Jaquez wasn’t a part of last year’s Eastern Conference Finals because he was still finishing up the school year at UCLA. This year he has been one of the top rookies in the league, averaging 14 ppg and plugging into Eric Spoelsta’s system in the snap of a fingers.
The rookie has missed the last four games, and by coincidence or not the Heat lost all of those games. He went down a week ago against the Charlotte Hornets and has been sidelined with a groin strain since.
Jaquez: injury not serious
Jaquez had double digits in all of his seven games in January and is less than a month removed from his career high 31 point game in the Heat’s win over the Sixers.
This isn’t the first time the former Bruin has dealt with an issue in the preseasons, but assured that this injury isn’t as serious as the one that kept him out for two weeks before opening day.
