Why isn’t Julius Randle playing for Knicks against 76ers in Game 5?
Chasing a first NBA championship in half a century, the New York Knicks are without star forward Randle, who isn’t expected back for a while.
Long-term injury victim Julius Randle remains unavailable to the New York Knicks, as Tom Thibodeau’s men visit the Philadelphia 76ers in Game 5 of the teams’ first-round NBA Playoffs series today, in which they can seal their place in the Eastern Conference semi-finals.
When will Randle be back playing for the Knicks?
Randle has been sidelined since late January after dislocating his right shoulder in the Knicks’ 125-109 regular-season win over the Miami Heat. Having initially sought to avoid surgery and make it back in time for the postseason, the forward was forced to undergo a campaign-ending operation earlier this month.
Announcing that Randle was to go under the knife, the Knicks said the 29-year-old would be “re-evaluated in five months”.
Is anyone else injured for the Knicks?
New York will also be without Bojan Bogdanovic, who went off early in Game 4 with a foot injury. Mitchell Robinson left last Thursday’s Game 3 because of a sprained left ankle and is listed as questionable having already missed the last meeting between the teams.
Jalen Brunson and Jericho Sims are marked as probable despite minor fitness issues.

Who leads the Knicks vs 76ers series after Game 3?
After winning Games 1 (111-104) and 2 (104-101) in the Big Apple, the Knicks suffered their first defeat in the series (114-125) in the first meeting at Wells Fargo Center. However, New York restored their two-game advantage with a 97-92 triumph in Game 4.
A win on Tuesday therefore means they will secure their place in the second round.
Seeded second in the Eastern Conference, the Knicks are out to progress beyond the first round of the NBA Playoffs for only the second time in the last 11 seasons.
