With the Clippers on the verge of elimination and their star battling through injury, one has to wonder how this latest off-court development, as tragic as it is, could possibly affect his focus on the task at hand.

Kawhi Leonard’s sister sentenced to life without parole

According to recent reports, Kimesha Williams, the sister of Los Angeles Clippers star Kawhi Leonard, has been sentenced to life without parole for the murder of 84-year-old Afaf Assad. As per reports, Williams and Candace Townsell robbed and fatally injured Assad at the Pechanga Resort Casino in Temecula in 2019. It is understood, that Williams and Townsell followed Assad into the bathroom, where they broke her skull and proceeded to rob her. Assad died from her injuries just a few days later on September 4th of that year. As a result, both women were found guilty of first-degree murder, as well as elder abuse this past February. At the time of the murder, Williams’ aunt confirmed that she and Leonard were brother and sister.

What faces Kawhi Leonard here and now?

To be clear, Kawhi Leonard is in no way related to or involved with the actions of his sister and to that point has given no official statement regarding this latest development or the crime itself. That being said, Leonard’s present situation is that his Clippers are currently down 3-1 to the Phoenix Suns and he himself is struggling with a knee sprain. Indeed, Leonard suffered the injury during Game 1 which the Clippers won and was subsequently not at his best for Game 2 which they lost, though he did put 31 points on the board. To that end, the 31-year-old has since missed both Game 3 and 4 and his status for Game 5 remains unclear.
