Why wasn’t Luka Doncic selected for the 2025 NBA All-Star Game?
The Slovenian hit the headlines recently with his high profile move from Dallas to join the Lakers.

The NBA All-Star weekend event is one of the most hotly-anticipated dates on the calendar for sports fans in the United States, with San Francisco hosting the 2025 event.
For the first time, the NBA All-Star Game will feature a mini-tournament with four teams and three games. The semifinals will see two teams facing off in Game 1, while the other two battle in Game 2. The winners of both games will advance to the championship in Game 3. Each game will be decided by the first team to score at least 40 points.
The All-Star games will take place on Sunday with one high profile NBA star set to be conspicuous by his absence.

No Doncic?
After hitting the headlines recently with his massive move from the Mavericks to the LA Lakers, the Slovenian star will not play at the 2025 NBA All-Star Weekend due to a combination of factors, primarily related to injuries and the voting process.
Doncic has been dealing with several injuries this season, most notably a left calf strain that sidelined him for a significant period. Although he returned to play with the Lakers, his extended absence affected his chances of being selected for the All-Star game.

Voting results also played a role and while Doncic received a high number of fan votes, he did not fare as well in the voting by players and media which ultimately impacted his overall score and prevented him from being selected as a starter or reserve.
