Will Jalen Brunson play for the Knicks against the Thunder today?
The Knicks star is listed on the official NBA injury report.
New York Knicks star Jalen Brunson has been placed on the official NBA injury list ahead of the side’s game against top of the West: Oklahoma City Thunder, plunging his participation into doubt.
The 28-year-old missed out on New York’s most recent game against the Jazz, his first absence of the campaign.
It was a tie which saw the Knicks badly need their point guard despite coming away with an important 119-103 win at Madison Square Garden to keep them third in the Eastern Conference standings.
What injury does Jalen Brunson have?
The official reason behind Brunson’s injury status is ‘right calf tightness’ and he has been listed as ‘questionable’, meaning that a decision will be taken closer to time as to whether or not he can feature on the court.
Brunson was questionable before Christmas and it seems that he has not been able to shake off the pain despite having time to rest and recover.
In his last game, against the Wizards, despite suffering from the same issue, Brunson, despite dealing with a calf issue, he managed 18 points, 5 assists, and 3 rebounds in 36 minutes.
As we’ve become used to, Jalen has driven the Knicks from the front, averaging 25.2 points, 7.7 assists, and 3.0 rebounds per game across the season. Player of the Month Karl-Anthony Towns will likely be the player who takes the responsibility on the night; he has been averaging 24.7 points and 13.5 rebounds so far.
Miles McBride is also questionable for the Knicks with left hamstring tightness. A decision will be made on his participation closer to tip-off. The Oklahoma City Thunder play against the New York Knicks on Friday 3 January at 8pm ET.
