Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid is listed as ‘questionable’ for his side ahead of the NBA clash against the Miami Heat.

However, this is not due to injury but illness, according to the official NBA injury list, which must be submitted by all sides before every game.

The 30-year-old’s loss to the side has come as a huge miss on past occasions, with the 76ers squad struggling to step up when they lack their big name players. So far this season, he has only played twice.

Embiid ‘managing’ as fitness fears grow

And it gets worse the deeper one digs: the 76ers hold a terrible 2-10 record without their big three of Embiid, Maxey and George on the field, meaning that fans will be biting their nails and hoping that the former is passed healthy by the 76ers medical staff ahead of tip-off at Kayesa Center.

Embiid played against the Knicks but failed to ignite and gets fans on their feet, scoring just 13 points and converting just 2 from 11 attempts. He also had little impact against the Magic, admitting to reporters that his adaptation period was not an easy time.

As for whether or not fans should be concerned, Embiid himself tried to play down fears that his fitness was anything to worry about: “I had surgery in February” he said, “and then I came back early to fight for the team… I’m still managing since the last surgery, just managing and trying to figure out the best approach, but I feel pretty good.”

As well as Embiid, who is merely questionable, Maxey, Quinones, Edwards and Bona are all listed as out. Regarding the Heat, at the time of writing they have not submitted their list of injured players.
