Will Joel Embiid play for the 76ers against the Nets today?
The 76ers star is featured on the injury list ahead of the game against the Brooklyn Nets.
Philadelphia 76ers fans are once again checking the injury list like a teenager checks the refrigerator. No matter how many times you go there, nothing has changed.
Joel Embiid is once again a feature on the document submitted to the NBA ahead of every game, and the recurring issues continue to plague his chances at performing on the court for his side.
While 2024 left with a lot of our bad feelings and negative thoughts, 2025 brought with it some hope. However, for Embiid, the same doubt hangs over his masked face as doctors continue to monitor what has been a season plagued from back to front by physical issues.
What injury does Joel Embiid have?
At the time of writing, the issue keeping Embiid as ‘questionable’ on the injury list is that of his sinus fracture. However, this time it’s not the only bullet point on the doctor’s docket, as he has also been listed as having a left foot sprain.
Embiid’s body has let him down for a long time and he came into the current campaign with a plan to manage a knee issue that failed to go away. Swelling appeared after just four games before a sinus fracture saw him don a mask.
Since returning to action in December, Embiid has appeared in just eight games. Playing less than 30 minutes each time, the Olympic champion has averaged 26 points, eight rebounds, and four assists per game, putting up 48 percent of his shots.
Now, a foot sprain is making fans uneasy about his ability to play at his best as the 76ers have trudged to a 13-19 record, struggling heavily in attack.
Nevertheless, the challenge remains for the 76ers who will have to look at other players to guide them to a positive result. The two teams go head to head in the Eastern Conference matchup at the Barclays Center on Saturday January 4 at 6pm ET with the 76ers in 11th place in the Eastern Conference.
