Boston Celtics point guard Jrue Holiday is one of the names listed on the team injury report ahead of the game against the Indiana Pacers today, December 29.

The two-time NBA All-Star has played 26 games so far this season but remains a doubt for the match at TD Garden against the side that chase them from down in 8th in the table.

What injury does Jrue Holiday have?

Holiday, 34, was listed as ‘questionable’ when the Celtics published their official injury list to the NBA, a requirement before every game in the league. The reason given behind his injury status is a right shoulder impingement.

The player looked to have injured his shoulder during last Monday’s game against the Orlando Magic; he was listed as questionable before the NBA Christmas Day game against the Philadelphia 76ers and eventually ruled as fully out.

Who could replace Holiday against the Pacers?

Holiday has since missed back-to-back games with a shoulder injury, and it could well be the case again. If indeed he does not get the green light from the medical staff, Payton Pritchard and Sam Hauser will be the likely candidates to take his place in the team.

It’s not only Holiday who is a doubt: Porzingis is questionable with an ankle issue, while Watson, Davison and Scheierman are all confirmed as out.

Ahead of the action, the Celtics sit 2nd in the Eastern Conference, with 23 wins and 8 losses this season, two of them coming back to back in recent games, seeing them slip away from the top. It’s now a long way to go for the 18-time champions to catch the Cavaliers, who have been in stunning form during the campaign and are way out ahead.

The Pacers, as mentioned, sit in 8th position, and have looked devastating at times in attack, making Holiday’s potential absence all the more damaging for the Celtics.
