Young fan sells special edition Wembanyama jersey for this insane price
The Spurs player gave his jersey to a young fan, who ran all the way to auction.

The romance of sport it what keeps us going back for more. Children idolise their heroes, and sometimes they get close enough for a high five or even a match-worn jersey.
And then they... run to auction?
If this is the way we’re going, let’s just close it down now, burn the regulations and sit at home staring at the dog do its thing.
You read that right. A jersey that was given to a young fan by Victor Wembanyama’s after a game in the NBA has recently sold it at auction for a pretty penny.
The formerly heartwarming exchange came after the San Antonio Spurs star played against the Brooklyn Nets on December 27. In that game he wore the City Edition of the jersey, racking up 19 points, 7 rebounds and 6 blocks in a 96-87 win.
After seeing a young fan with a sign that read “Victor Wembanyama, will you swap jersey with me?” and presumably eyes like Puss in Boots from Shrek, he made the good-karma decision to give this young human being a memory of a lifetime.
Less than a month later, fans spotted the very same jersey on an auction market website with an opening bid of $10,000, with Wembanyama replying to a tweet with a crying emoji. Me and you both, Wemby.

The auction closed on Saturday with the opening bid on that day starting out at $33,000. By the end of the day, the jersey finally sold for $73,200.
As for Wembanyama himself, as well as having his soul destroyed by whoever decided that the child did not need the jersey, the All-Star is expected to miss the rest of the season due to deep vein thrombosis in his right shoulder.
