Alabama beat their own record in the SEC, as the previous record was in 2019 when they put up 23 three-pointers against LSU. The previous NCAA Tournament record for threes was 21 in 1990, set by Loyola Marymount.
Mark Sears led the Crimson Tide with 34 points, eight assists, three steals, three rebounds, and was responsible for 10 of their 25 three-pointers, including the record-breaking 22nd. With Sears’ 28th point of the night, he surpassed Eddie Phillips for the second-most points in Alabama history. He now has a total 1,944 points in his college career and is just 224 points away from the record 2,168 held by Reggie King.
