Hanna took to social media platform X to share her excitement about stepping back onto the court. In a post on the site still referred to by many as Twitter, she expressed her eagerness to return to the game she loves, stating,

“My last season of basketball was one of the most successful & challenging yrs of my life but it helped me grow immensely... I am returning for one more szn.”

The Cavinder twins initially made headlines when they announced their departure from basketball following Miami’s remarkable journey to the Elite Eight in 2023. “Given the news yesterday that my sister was returning to play ball at Miami and after careful consideration and thought, I’ve decided to return to the University of Miami and play with Hanna for our final and 5th year. There is nothing more important than family and the bond I share with my Twin sister. Being presented with the opportunity to play together one more time is something I cannot pass up. I am excited for this upcoming season and cant wait to play at the U.”

Hanna’s return to the Hurricanes coincides with the retirement of longtime head coach Katie Meier, who concluded her tenure after the 2023-24 season. Miami welcomed Tricia Cullop, former head coach of Toledo, as Meier’s successor.

The excitement surrounding Hanna’s return was palpable as the Hurricanes shared a video on X, featuring her donning the team uniform with her signature blonde locks swaying as she lip-synced to Diamond Dondada’s ‘Freestyle’. The caption hinted at her time away, teasing, “I took over a year off and cut u bitches some slack. Tell a friend to tell a friend (Ha). She’s Backkkkkkk.”
