Kansas vs Texas: The lay of the land

In what will be the team’s first road game of the season - they open league play against BYU this Saturday, September 23rd - the Kansas Jayhawks will face the Texas Longhorns who are coming off of solid victories against No. 3 Alabama and Wyoming. Texas will also be in action this Saturday before taking on Kansas a week from now, as they will be playing against Baylor. Where the Jayhawks are concerned, they are 3-0 for the second straight season and have won seven consecutive games in the month of September.

On the other side of the divide, we’ve got the Longhorns who are also sitting on a 3-0 record and currently hold the No. 2 rank according to the latest AP 25, though they are positioned at No. 6 in the USA Today Coaches’ poll. It’s worth pointing out that where the head-to-head is concerned, Texas currently holds a 17-4 all-time record in the 22 games that the programs have played against each other, and they are also 9-1 when playing at DKR.

Kansas vs Texas: The Prediction

Given the aforementioned gap between the two teams when it comes to their head-to-head, logic would dictate that a bet on Texas would be a safe one. Even more so when you consider that their last meeting ended in a 55-14 victory, a veritable beat down you could say. With that said, stranger things have happened in football and will again. What’s our vote? Despite the intrigue of the unpredictable, we’re going with a Longhorns win.
