A capacity crowd is expected at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta on Monday as Ohio State and Notre Dame contest the 2025 College Football National Championship final to bring the College Football season to a close.
The Buckeyes, the No.8 seeds won the Cotton Bowl last week with a 28-14 victory over Texas; No.7 seeds the Fighting Irish, emerged victorious in the Orange Bowl, edging Penn State 28-24.
The two programs have met several times in the past - in total, there have been eight previous meetings.
The Game of the Century
The first meeting was at Ohio Stadium on 2 November 1935 with both teams going into action unbeaten. Notre Dame won a pulsating contest 18-13 in what turned out to be one of the biggest sports events of the year and famously dubbed the Game of the Century.
They met for a rematch the following year, this time at Notre Dame Stadium but also in front of a sellout crowd. The Buckeyes went into the game 2-3 and the Irish 4-1 and it was the home team who came out on top, taking the game 7-2.
