The College World Series brings together the top college baseball teams to crown a national champion. The event takes place annually in June and is located in Omaha, Nebraska. The National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I Baseball Championship concludes with this series.

In the initial phase of the series, a grand total of 64 teams participate in a bracket-style tournament. In the upcoming Super Regional matchups, the winner of each pod will advance to one of the eight spots available. In the upcoming College World Series, the winner of each “best of 3″ series will advance to the next round. The College World Series has now become synonymous with Omaha, Nebraska.

“The Road to Omaha” is a phrase commonly used by college baseball players when discussing their aspirations of reaching the championship series.

Why is the series played at the Charles Schwab Field?

In 1947, the Hyames Field in Kalamazoo, Michigan, hosted the inaugural College World Series. In 1948, the tournament was held in Michigan and later relocated by the officials to Lawrence Stadium in Wichita, Kansas. Wichita hosted the series for a single year before being relocated once more. The first College World Series was held in Omaha, Nebraska 1950. The series takes place in Omaha every year without fail.

First-time CWS attendees from Omaha reportedly attended the game to have something to do. After exiting the stadium, fresh enthusiasm and affection for baseball were ignited within them. The College World Series in Omaha has become a major draw for fans, bringing in thousands annually. Local businesses and residents have grown dependent on the revenue generated by this event. In 2015, the city achieved a remarkable feat by welcoming 350,000 visitors during 17 games, marking it as its most successful year to date.
