Why was Sherrone Moore arrested? Full charges, potential jail time

Former Michigan Wolverines coach Sherrone Moore has been charged with a range of offenses stemming from an alleged incident with a female football staffer earlier this week.

Moore had been the school’s football coach since January 2024, signing a five-year, $27.5 million deal with the team. His time with the team came to an end on Wednesday, when the University of Michigan announced that it had received “credible evidence” that Moore had engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a staff member.

On Friday Moore was charged with third-degree home invasion, stalking, and breaking and entering. The Athletic reports that Moore is alleged to have unlawfully entered the women’s residence to “commit the crime of stalking” and “repeated or continuing harassment” of the women.

Moore’s bond has been set at $25,000 and he has been scheduled for a probably cause conference on January 22, 2026. The 39-year-old is set to be arraigned in the Washtenaw County 14A District Court on Friday, with representative from Ann Arbor attorney Joe Simon.
