Estados Unidos Update:

Head coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed that quarterback Brock Purdy is dealing with injuries to his left shoulder and big toe, leaving his availability for Week 2 against the New Orleans Saints in doubt. Shanahan made it clear that the foot injury is the greater concern compared to the issue with his throwing arm.

The case of George Kittle appears even more severe. The tight end sustained a hamstring injury and is expected to miss several weeks, with no clear timetable for his return.

Who could take Purdy and Kittle’s place?

The absence of both players would be a major blow given their offensive output. Purdy threw for 277 yards and two touchdowns against the Seahawks, though he also tossed two interceptions. Kittle caught all four of his targets for 25 yards and a score before leaving Lumen Field in the second quarter.

If Purdy can’t suit up, the offense will fall on the shoulders of Mac Jones. The quarterback joined San Francisco after a season with the Jacksonville Jaguars, having started his career with the New England Patriots.

Replacing Kittle is a tougher challenge, as his production and presence are unmatched by his backups. Luke Farrell and Jake Tonges – the surprise hero of Week 1 – will need to step up in his absence.
