49ers vs Seahawks betting trends: odds, point spread and over/under prediction | NFL Week 6

The NFC West takes the stage Thursday night from Seattle as the Seahawks and the San Francisco 49ers look to rebound from Week 5 losses.

It’s an all NFC West matchup to kick off Week 6 on Thursday night from Seattle. The Seahawks and the San Francisco 49ers are set for a primetime showdown with each team trying to rebound from Week 5 losses. It’s still early but these two teams most likely be the ones fighting for the division title late in the season and Thursday’s match up from Lumen Field could go a long way in deciding who takes the NFC West.

49ers vs. Seahawks preview

After taking the Chiefs to overtime and falling just short of a sixth Super Bowl in franchise history, the Niners came into the season as one of the favorites to get back to Super Sunday. It’s been anything but smooth sailing in the Bay Area for the 2-3 Niners who are coming off of a loss to the Cardinals in front of their home fans. San Fran had a 13 point lead going into the halftime break, but a couple of Brock Purdy interceptions, an injury to kicker Jake Moody and a late fumble from Jordan Mason breathed new life into the Cardinals who stole one in Levi’s Stadium with a Chad Ryland field goal with under 100 seconds left on the clock. Order has to be restored in San Fran, but they are going into a bitter rivals house, on a short week under the primetime light.

The Mike Macdonald era got off to a flying start in Seattle with the Seahawks going 3-0 to start the season . While their new coach led them to a perfect first few weeks there were doubts about this team. They teams they beat in those three weeks were some of the weakest in the league, and we would have to wait until they played a good team to see just how good they were. They went into Detroit and went toe-to-toe with the Lions to prove they could hang with the top teams in the NFC, but then got dominated by the Giants last week in Seattle. This team needs to stop the sliding, and no better way to do so than with a big win over a division rival on Thursday Night Football.

While fierce divisional rivals now, these two teams haven’t always been in what is now called the NFC West. The rivalry dates back to the mid 70s, they began to play each other twice a year in 2002 when they were united in the same division. In the 52 games they have played, the Seahawks have the 30-22 edge, but the scales have been tilted in the Niners favor for the last few years. They have played five times over the last two seasons with the Niners winning each of those five games including a Wild Card in January of 2023.

Spread, Over/Under and Prediction

Heading into the Thursday night showdown from the Pacific Northwest the 49ers are favored on the road in a hostile environment. San Francisco is a 3.5 point favorite with the Over/Under set at 47.5 points from Lumen Stadium.

  • Niners vs. Seahawks spread: Niners (-3.5), Seahawks (+3.5)
  • Niners vs. Seahawks Over/Under: 47.5 points
  • Niners vs. Seahawks moneyline: Niners -181, Seattle +151

Prediction

The Niners have to wake up at some point. Seeing San Fran under .500 isn’t something we have grown very used to over the last half decade. Injuries have been an issue, but Brock Purdy has more than enough weapons in the arsenal to be carrying the offense to wins. Jake Moody is out for Thursday’s game and Matthew Wright will be in as the replacement kicker, but I don’t think it will make a difference. The defense has to be a bit more decisive, and I think it’s Fred Warner’s guys who make a statement in a much needed dominant win over the Seahawks on Thursday night.

Niners win on the road 28-10.
