The elite cornerback is rehabbing in Miami which has some people questioning the decision given the implications.

$500,000 fine? No problem for Cowboys’ CB Trevon Diggs who is a no-show so far this preseason

Trevon Diggs looks to be about to find out what half a million dollars buys in contract compliance. The Dallas Cowboys cornerback hasn’t shown up for any of the team’s voluntary offseason workouts – missing OTAs, and staying in Miami to rehab his surgically repaired knee instead of checking in with his team.
How much Cowboys could fine Diggs
That decision could trigger a $500,000 de-escalator in his $9 million base salary, based on the terms of his five-year, $97 million deal signed in 2023. The team requires players to attend over 84% of the offseason program, even if they’re rehabbing, and the contract clearly states rehab must be done under the club’s supervision to count.

Cowboys officials insist Diggs is progressing. But his absence hasn’t gone unnoticed, especially after tension last year over his ACL recovery. The front office says he’ll be evaluated during mandatory minicamp next week (June 10–12). Miss that, and fines stack up too.
When will Diggs be ready to play?
Diggs is expected to begin training camp on the physically unable to perform list, with a chance he also misses the season’s first four games. Dallas’ cornerback depth is thin and banged-up. But for now, Diggs is betting his long-term recovery – and reputation – are worth the $500K gamble.
