Aaron Rodgers discussed Haason Reddick’s stalemate with New York Jets and here is what he said
It would be safe to say that the New York Jets and their newly acquired linebacker have turned ugly, but the team’s biggest star has some advice for his new teammate.
Regardless of whose side you’re on, it’s now clear that the New York Jets and Haason Reddick are in the middle of a bitter and moreover public contractual dispute. With the former Temple University star demanding a trade and the franchise essentially saying no, there appears to be no solution. Unless of course, you’re Aaron Rodgers.

As mentioned above, things have turned bitter between the New York Jets and their defensive lineman, Haason Reddick. On Monday, the 29-year-old requested a trade out of the ‘Big Apple’, at which point the Jets flatly said there would be no such move made. At that point, Reddick began to hold out of training camp which in turn has led to intense speculation about what would happen next. Now, we’ve had another twist in the saga as reports indicate that Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers has stepped to the table to give his take.
“I think the best thing for him is to be a Jet because it’s going to be a fun ride,” Rodgers told Newsday. So, if we take Rodgers’ stance at face value, we’ve got to assume that above all else he’s attempting to defuse an otherwise hostile situation between the two parties involved. On the other hand, there are few teams in the NFL that have evoked more hype in the leadup to the 2024-25 NFL season. This is after all the second coming of Rodgers who tore his Achilles tendon just minutes into his Jets debut in Week 1 of this past season. That’s to say, the four-time MVP may just be right.
To that end, one could argue that Reddick should in fact let go of his gripe with the franchise and get back to work as the team prepares for what could possibly be the biggest season in its history. That said, details are important and where Reddick is concerned, it should be said that he was acquired from the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for a conditional third-round pick. Some reports indicate that Reddick was expecting to sign a new deal with the Jets that would see him receive a salary that he deemed fair.
As things stand, he is due in excess of $14 million for the final season of his deal. That is of course before we touch on his numbers last season - they were exceptional - which would warrant significantly more money, let’s say more than $25 million per year. Whatever the case, the Jets remain firm for the moment which leaves the question as to whether their starting quarterback’s opinion can soften their stance.
