Aaron Rodgers’ new teammate said veteran QB belongs “at the retirement home”

The Pittsburgh Steelers are hoping that their new quarterback can lead them to a Super Bowl but not everyone was convinced by Rodgers.

Update:

Back in February, Pittsburgh Steelers safety DeShon Elliott made a comment that he quite quickly came to regret.

Responding to a post linking veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers to the Steelers, Elliott replied: “Leave his ass at the retirement home”.

Five months on, Rodgers has been brought in to transform a misfiring Steelers offense and Elliott has probably had some making up to do behind the scenes. Speaking to reporters during media availability over the weekend, Elliott sought to make light of the remarks.

I’m a troll,” Elliott joked. “He’s an All-Pro and he’s a GOAT. He’s going to be a gold jacket guy one day.

He went on to recall his first meeting with Rodgers since the move was finalized, insisting that there was no bad blood between the Steelers teammates.

“Honestly, when he got here, we communicated, we talked, he’s a great person and a great football player, so [whatever] the media’s put out there is B.S. I respect him a lot. I told him that I respect him and I apologized to him for the things I was saying about him. Honestly, he’s a great man and he has a great heart, so I appreciate him and he’s funny as hell.”

A lot is expected of Rodgers this season after a prolonged pursuit over the offseason. He is eager to have one more shot at another Super Bowl to end his stellar NFL career but his first outing with the Pittsburgh did not get off to the best start.

At his first on-field showing with the Pittsburgh, Rodgers took part in an 11 vs 11 drill last week and threw an interception on his very first pass. However things have picked up since then and Rodgers is already starting to show the value of his experience as he prepares for his 21st season in the NFL.
