When Drake Maye finally addressed the situation surrounding New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel, the message from inside the Patriots locker room was clear... They’re not wavering.

“We’re here for coach,” Maye said. “We love coach, what he does for us… I know he’s dealing with some stuff off the field… but we’re here for him. And I know he’s gonna come back.”

Vrabel, as a head coach, operates in a different space entirely. His evaluation is tied to leadership, performance, and results on the field.

They are important distinctions, yes. But they don’t fully explain the gap in how each has been discussed, scrutinized, and, in some cases, defended.
