Before Mayfield’s arrival, the Rams had only Bryce Perkins and John Wolford on the 53-man roster and Case Cookus on the practice squad.
Mayfield started six games for the Panthers and the team went 1-5 in those games. In the starts he had 1,158 yards, four touchdown passes, six interceptions and completed 105 of the 186 passes he attempted.
The 27-year-old was released by the Panthers on Monday after playing only seven games with the team. He will now finish out the season with the Rams before entering free agency in March.
