Baltimore Ravens 27 vs 13 New Orleans Saints summary: stats and highlights | NFL Week 9

Update:
Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens are heading into their bye week at 6-3 after defeating the New Orleans Saints 27-13 on Monday Night Football.

The Baltimore Ravens are heading into their bye at 6-3 and riding a three game win streak after defeating the New Orleans Saints on Monday Night Football. The Ravens running game had another fantastic night going for 188 yards and two touchdowns in the 27-13 road victory.

Ravens D shuts down Saints

Baltimore had struggled to put wins together before their Week 8 win over the Bucs gave them their first winning streak of the season. They made it three consecutive on Monday night in New Orleans when as the defense shut down Andy Dalton and the Saints.

With a handful of injuries on the offensive end the Dalton and the Saints could not get anything going in the first half. They punted on their first four drives, and picked up just one first down in that span.

Lamar Jackson led two sevens minute touchdown drives in the first half to put the Ravens in command. On the first drive Jackson was 5/5 and the Ravens converted on there third downs before Isaiah Likely caught a 24 yard TD pass which gave Lamar Jackson 100 career touchdown passes.

Long TD drives set up smooth second half

The second touchdown came just before the half and it was another seven plus minute drive in which the Ravens had to keep the chains moving on first down two different times. Kenyan Drake finished off the second scoring drive with a one yard TD run.

The Saints offense came to life for a moment in the final minutes of the first half when they had to go hurry up and went 60 yards down the field to set up a 33 yard Will Lutz field goal to make it 14-3 going into half.

John Harbaugh’s team has struggled holding on to double digits leads this season, but they were able to hold of the Saints comfortably in the second half. They gave up double big leads in each of their three losses and almost did so against the Bucs last week.

Run game takes over after halftime

The Ravens long drives took their toll on the Saints in the second half and the run game came to life for Baltimore. They ran for more than 100 yards in the second half as Kenyan Drake led the team with 93 yards and two TDs and Jackson had 82 yards on 11 totes.

The Saints were just 3/11 on third down on Monday night, and failed to get into the endzone on their two trips inside the Ravens 20 yard line.  Despite their struggles on the offensive end they were still in the game midway through the third quarter, but a Justin Houston interception on a batted pass set up a Kenyan Drake TD run just three plays later and the Ravens put the game on ice.

The Saints managed a consolation touchdown when Jawaan Jennings tip toed up the sideline for a 41 yard TD. Without the last drive of their night, the New Orleans night on the offensive end would have been embarrassing. The Saints had 243 total yards, but 83 of them came on the final drive.

Baltimore get Panthers after bye

Jackson threw for 133 yards on 12/22 passing with one touchdown and added another 82 on the ground.
